Get Off the Couch and Vote

MAGA Nation may be in the midst of an Election Day meltdown.

Earlier today, Donald TrumpShe implored men to “get off that nice couch… and go out and vote” — in a call echoed by some of her most influential supporters — just as women’s voter turnout showed signs of rising above levels seen in 2020.

Meanwhile, his team has sent a message of desperation that has torn its own fans apart.

“I would love it if you would go out and vote, whether you’re sitting on that nice couch or wherever you’re sitting right now, if you would go out and vote,” Trump said. It is said that at a virtual rally earlier today.

Last minute call for support from men came as early voting figures and first vote exit polls showed High turnout of female voters – a bad sign for Trump, a good sign for Trump Kamala HarrisIf she wins, who will be the first female president?

Trump’s appeal to men was echoed by a number of prominent MAGA figures.

Trump advisor Stephen Miller’s first message to men on election night was moderate; at least by Trump standards.

“If you know people who don’t vote, take them to the polls,” said Stephen Miller, Trump’s senior advisor. wrote in an X post.

Miller was visibly more panicked when he went to X half an hour later, after the first polls had closed.

“WHAT ARE YOU DOING RIGHT NOW TO VOTE TRUMP? CALLING, SENDING A MESSAGE, SENDING AN E-MAIL, GOING TO THE BALLOT? HE wrote to x. “TURN THE VOTE!!!”

And an hour after that, Miller’s tone reached a feverish pitch as he issued a frightening appeal to men and railed against undocumented immigrants in the most inflammatory language possible.

“Illegals are raping and killing American children.” he wrote. “All men of America must do their duty, go to the voting booth, and end the occupation once and for all.”

But some MAGA bigwigs have framed their message to male voters as a rallying cry rather than a desperate appeal.

“The cavalry has arrived” declared billionaire Trump supporter Elon Musk said in an X post. “Men are voting in record numbers. “They realize everything is at stake now.”

Far-right pundit Charlie Kirk sounded similarly confident: write to x: “There is a huge increase in after work right now in GA, NC, PA. The men are coming. Participation is INCREASING. STAY IN LINE!”

But the signs of Election Day panic stemming from the Trump campaign are clear.

In the early afternoon, the former president’s team sent a message urging his supporters to vote and accusing them of not turning out forcefully enough at the polls four years ago.

“If just 1% more of President Trump’s supporters had responded to these types of messages in 2020, we wouldn’t be in the mess we’re in today,” the campaign text sent this afternoon said. “The truth is that the Democrats have their money, their media, and the full weight of the D.C. establishment behind them. And right now the Democrat Machine is in full force for Kamala. By the time you finish reading this message, it will have received millions of votes. “If we’re going to continue this, we need you to come out and vote.”

“Please don’t be the reason we wake up tomorrow with the President Elect Kamala Harris“the text added. “Doing nothing is not an option.”

The attempt to pander to guilt is just the latest sign of the Trump team softening its typically boastful tone and acknowledging the possibility of defeat. Trump’s bluster first broke Sunday when he admitted in a phone interview with ABC News that Harris could beat him on Election Day.

“I guess you might lose, you might lose” Trump saidEven as he expressed confidence that he would win. “So this happens, right? But I think there’s a pretty significant difference, but you can say: yes, yes, you can lose. Bad things can happen. You know, some things happen, but it will be interesting.”

These remarks represent a shift from the confident confidence displayed when it came to electoral chances in the weeks before the election.

Both candidates will get their answer soon. As the polls begin to close on the evening of November 5, the country is getting closer to knowing who the next commander in chief will be.
