Traffic England is reporting delays of around an hour, with delays expected until around 10pm.

A police spokesman said: “We have closed the third and fourth northbound lanes of the M6 ​​due to a traffic accident at Junction 31.

“We anticipate that the road will remain closed for a while until the road is opened.

“In the meantime, we recommend that you seek an alternative route and drive carefully, allowing plenty of extra time to reach your destination.

“We will follow what is happening and will inform you here when the road is fully reopened. “As always, we appreciate your patience and stay safe if you are out and about today.”
