Mansfield man dies after crashing into car while skateboarding

MANSFIELD – A 28-year-old man died after crashing into a vehicle while skateboarding in downtown Mansfield Friday night.

According to a report from the Mansfield Police Department, Douglas “Mitch” Miller of Mansfield was traveling north on Walnut Street when he entered the intersection of Walnut and Fifth Avenues at approximately 9:20 p.m.

The report stated Miller ran a stop sign, failed to yield to westbound traffic along West Fifth Avenue and collided with a 2014 Jeep Patriot driven by Avery Elijah Brown, 19, of Mansfield.

Miller was transported by EMS to OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital with serious injuries. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Brown and his passenger, 18-year-old Xylasia Lee, escaped uninjured.
