IDI survey shows who Israelis prefer in US elections

Almost two-thirds of Israelis believe former President Donald Trump a better candidate for upcoming US presidency voteThat’s according to a poll released by the Israel Democracy Institute on Monday.

The IDI poll, which asked respondents which candidate they preferred, found that nearly two-thirds of the total sample said former President Donald Trump was in Israel’s best interest, while only 13% said so. The poll also showed that 72% in the Jewish sample thought Trump was better for Israelis, compared to 11% who believed Harris was the right choice.

IDI reported that among Arabs, a 46 percent majority believe there is no difference between Trump or Harris, while the rest are divided, with 27 percent preferring Trump and 22.5 percent supporting Harris.

By gender, the results are similar between women and men, with Harris’ approval rating low.

However, men prefer Trump more than women.

Looking at the difference in opinion across ages, a majority of 18-34 year olds believe Trump is better in Israel’s interests than Harris (90% vs. 2%).

The majority of those aged 35-54 think Trump is better with 71%, while 10.5% prefer Harris.

Among adults 55 and older, the difference is less extreme; 55 percent say Trump is better for Israel, while 22 percent say Harris is better.
