Luwero woman found dead after going out at night

Luwero District police are investigating the murder of a 40-year-old woman whose body was found in an unfinished house in Bukuma Village in Luwero Municipal Council.

Robinah Nyangoma’s body was found in the early hours of Sunday morning after reportedly leaving home last night under unclear circumstances.

According to his twin sister Aidah Nyakato, Nyangoma’s friends came the previous evening and invited him for an outing.

“Nyangoma had asked for more time, promising to meet them later,” he said. Monitor.

Nyakato remembers going to bed around 10pm while her sister was still at home, but says she was “shocked when she received a disturbing phone call while preparing to go to prayer.”

“The search was asking me to identify a murdered woman, but I found out it was my sister lying dead,” he said.

Condemning the brutal murder, Bukuma LCI vice president Mustafah Ntambi said he was informed of the incident at around 7am.

“I urge residents to be careful when moving around at night, especially due to allegations that Nyangoma was attacked while returning from a night trip,” he added.

Nyangoma leaves behind two sons and a daughter; The oldest is 14 years old and the youngest is 11 years old.

District councilor Margaret Nansubuga, who represents Kagugo District on the Luwero Municipal Council, called on the police to step up investigations.

He referred to reports suggesting Nyangoma may have been with someone at a local venue and stressed the importance of identifying and questioning those involved.

Savanna Regional Police spokesperson Sam Twineamazima confirmed the incident and stated that investigations have begun to determine the circumstances surrounding Nyangoma’s death.

“The body was taken to Luwero Hospital for autopsy and then handed over to family members for burial in Nakasongola, Migyera,” he said. Monitor.

According to the 2023 annual police crime report, at least 25 people die every day in Uganda due to murder or traffic accidents.
