He did it!

Shohei Ohtani became a World Series champion 10 months after signing with the Los Angeles Dodgers in pursuit of a World Series and a chance to play baseball in October.

Now Ohtani can accept anything; accompanied by his dog, Decoy, of course.

During the Dodgers World Series celebrations at Dodger Stadium on Friday, Ohtani was called to speak in front of the crowd, which erupted into loud cheers as Ohtani took the microphone. Ohtani gave a short speech to the crowd in English without the help of his translator.

“This is a very special moment for me,” Ohtani said. “I’m so honored to be here and be a part of this team. Congratulations Los Angeles. Thank you guys!”

Ohtani was among many Dodgers who spoke briefly in front of the crowd and joined his Dodgers teammates in thanking fans.

Previously, Ohtani was amazed at the number of fans who showed up to watch the Dodgers parade buses through downtown Los Angeles.

“I’m completely blown away by the number of fans here. It’s incredible,” Ohtani said through a translator. “It’s been an incredible year, I’m so happy to be able to contribute. The fans and everyone have been so welcoming.

Ohtani’s first season as a Dodgers officially ended in storybook fashion. The designated hitter arrived in Los Angeles last December on a 10-year, $700 million deal, and both sides hoped the collaboration would bring the Dodgers another championship. One season later, their ambitions were met with success.

Ohtani batted .310/.390/.646 with 197 hits, 134 runs, 54 home runs and 130 RBI in his first season with the Dodgers. He led the National League in runs, home runs and RBIs and is expected to be named NL MVP.

In the postseason, Ohtani hit .230 with 14 hits, 14 runs, three home runs and 10 RBIs. In the World Series against the Yankees, Ohtani recorded two hits, two runs and two walks for the Dodgers.
