Police said the accident involving a pedestrian and a car occurred Wednesday evening.

A pedestrian has died after being struck by a vehicle on a main road in Worthing.

The incident happened on the A27 Arundel Road near Teign Walk at 20:00 GMT on Wednesday.

A 69-year-old man was confirmed dead at the scene, according to Sussex Police.

His relatives were informed.

The A27 was closed in both directions for several hours.

Police said they have launched an investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the collision and are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.
