ONSLOW COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – A Midway Park man is behind bars after deputies say a traffic stop led to the discovery of a large amount of drugs in his vehicle.

According to the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred shortly before 11 p.m. yesterday at the corner of Piney Green Road and Rocky Run Road.

Deputies said a traffic stop revealed passenger Timothy Scott was in possession of a trafficking amount of fentanyl.

A 43-year-old Midway Park man was charged with:

• Three counts of opium or heroin trafficking
• Possession of drug materials
• Manufacturing Schedule II controlled substance

Scott was jailed on a $150,000 secured bail.

An arrest warrant is pending for a second suspect involved and similar charges are expected, deputies said.
