Michael Keaton From Batman To The Man, Can He Talk To You For A Minute?

You mentioned that you would make a video for Biden in the last election, but you just started sharing about Kamala Harris. Given how divided everything is, did you feel any hesitation about weighing in?

I run the risk of becoming another annoying celebrity, but it’s worth it for me. And I think it’s important to walk the line and thread that needle so that it’s not frustrating. Getting people to use their common sense to listen to you and not make knee-jerk reactions, which is something I’m definitely guilty of, rather than screaming, yelling and mocking.

What I find fascinating about your videos is that you reach into people’s better natures. Compassion for people who disagree is something missing from the discourse.

If I’m going out, I want to go out on the bright side. I don’t want to go dark and negative. I just don’t want to.

You don’t say, “You’re an idiot, you’re a bigot.” You say: “Think about it. You’re better than this.”

I’m sure you and my family have friends who are Trump supporters, but there is too much love in my family to afford to throw that away. That’s why we’re very, very careful. Honestly, 99% of the time we don’t bring up politics. In general, it is not worth risking relationships in this way. Not just.

But you also have a relationship with your audience. In your Biden video, you said: “You may not want to hear from me, and I understand that, but come on… I scare Batman.”

Oh, of course.

It’s almost like, “Hey, if I’ve made you laugh or cheer for me over the years, could that save me a minute of your time?”

Thank you. You hit it on the head right there. And you must keep your sense of humour. This is important. We can go down the list of reasons to vote for one person or not to vote for another person. But to boil it down to one thing (about Trump), it’s the man’s complete and 100% inability to laugh at himself. And the best part about it is that it’s the exact opposite. He has an extreme ability and openness to laugh at himself. It just is. Do you know why? Very funny. He has a great sense of humor.

This brings us to our final question, and I’ve saved the toughest for last… Who would Beetlejuice endorse?

Oh man, you know what? I’m afraid to release him.

He’s not a good man, so he doesn’t necessarily do the right thing. But maybe not HE bad too.

He may not be a good man, but he’s also not a stupid man. He is not a naive man. He’s actually an anarchist, which is worrying.

He would treat us like a third party.

This is true. (Laughs.) He has a tattoo Robert Kennedy Jr. probably on his back.
