The man who was hit by a car in the Southeast last week died from his injuries.

A man who was struck by a car on Tucson’s southeast side last week died from his injuries Tuesday.

Alfred T. Diaz, 68, was in the eastbound lane of East Irvington Road just before 11 p.m. when he was struck by a Honda CR-V traveling in the same lane, according to a news release from the Tucson Police Department. Diaz was taken to St. Louis with life-threatening injuries. He was transferred to St. Joseph Hospital.

The Honda driver, who was not injured, stopped and cooperated with authorities. TPD determined that the 68-year-old male driver was not suffering from any injuries at the time, the news release said.

Detectives are trying to determine whether Diaz was walking on the road or trying to cross Irvington. According to the report, he was not in a pedestrian crossing and there was no street lighting in that area.
