INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A man was killed in a shooting at a plasma donation center on the city’s east side, police said.

The dead man’s identity had not been publicly released as of Tuesday night. The shooting was reported around 2.40pm on Tuesday. at the Grifols Biomat USA-Plasma Donation Center at 3620 N. Post Road.

Tracy Brown had just entered the facility and was ready to donate at the time of the shooting. “I was in the front and I heard four gunshots and after we heard them we ran to the back towards the bathroom and stayed there for about 10 minutes. “We heard eight more gunshots.”

“I was thinking about them shooting at school, school shootings. I was thinking, I hope I’m not one of those statistics,” Brown added.

Other witnesses told News 8 on camera that they saw people take IVs out of their arms and run for cover when the shots rang out.

A person of interest was taken into custody at a home in the 7500 block of Ruskin Place, just west of I-465’s East 38th Street overpass, said Officer Drew Brown, a spokesman for the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.

No arrests have been announced.
