Lakeside woman identified as Henshaw Lake crash victim

Authorities have publicly identified a 54-year-old woman who died in a crash on a rural highway near Lake Henshaw two weeks ago.

According to the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office and the California Highway Patrol, Robin Blankinship of Lakeside lost control of the 2014 Toyota Sienna he was driving on state Route 76 in the Morettis Junction area shortly before 5 p.m. on Oct. 16.

CHP Officer Jared Grieshaber said the eastbound vehicle left the roadway about a half-mile east of Mesa Grande Road, struck several trees and overturned.

Blankinship died at the scene of the accident.
