I know that young love is usually reserved for those who are, for lack of a better term, young. But sometimes love stories can arise between older people that feel young love at its best. Apparently one of the biggest scenes in Season 3 actually made Streep cry because she was so happy to be portraying such a wonderful, lighthearted romance.

In Season 3 Just Murders in the BuildingFor a while, Loretta was one of the suspects, but more importantly, she became Oliver’s love interest after he cast her in his musical. And he said, ‘I got to do a scene that I really don’t think I’ll ever get the chance to do.’ ‘Doing romantic scenes like this with this group at this age is the greatest thing ever.’

Fittingly, Season 3 Episode 5 is titled “Oh, My Love!” and follows Oliver and Loretta having quite the date night. It all starts with a dinner at the actress’s tiny apartment, where they share a meal of overcooked pork chops, causing Short’s character to lose a tooth.

Eventually the two board a ferry, Loretta offers Oliver a flask and beer, and they share many stories and laughs. Short’s character was using history to try to outdo Loretta Just Murders in the Building Season 3 suspect listHe also expressed his feelings for her as follows:

I adore you Loretta ‘Lucky’ Durkin and everything about you except those pork chops, I will never forgive you for that.

Neither of them can stop smiling after this, and Streep’s character tells Short about the “tooth ferry” as she throws her missing tooth into the sea. Obviously, it then ends with a kiss. It’s a completely unique, silly, and delightful moment, and Streep is right, we don’t get to see love stories like this happen with older couples.

When you look at the list best romantic comediesMost of the time the leads are young. So, as a viewer, it’s always surprising to see older couples represented in these stories, and as the Oscar winner explained, portraying them means a lot to her, too. I totally understand why he drowned after filming the ferry scene.
