ME identifies remains found by people cutting grass in remote area of West Coast

SAN ANTONIO – The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified a man whose body was found in a field on San Antonio’s West Side.

The man was identified as 60-year-old Richard Reyna, according to the coroner’s office. The cause and manner of his death are being investigated.

Reyna’s remains were found Oct. 22 in an area off U.S. Highway 90 at Pue Road, less than a mile inside Loop 1604.

According to Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar, the property owners were mowing the grass near a ditch when they saw an unidentified object. When they got closer they realized it was a human skull.

Property owners go to the field every year to mow the grass, but last year they couldn’t see Reyna’s remains.

BCSO believes Reyna’s remains may have been on the property for several years since being whitewashed.

If anyone has information regarding Reyna’s death, call BCSO at 210-335-6000.
