6 people were arrested after the injured person

Six people have been arrested after a man suffered suspected stab wounds in Plymouth, police said.

Devon and Cornwall Police said they were called to Basket Ope, near the Barbican, at around 17:40 GMT on Thursday following reports that a group of men were “yelling and threatening” at each other.

Police said they were later notified by the ambulance service that a man had been attacked nearby.

Police said the man was taken to Derriford Hospital where he was treated for “suspicious stab wounds”.

Police said they do not believe his injuries are life-threatening or life-changing and investigations are ongoing.

A 27-year-old woman, a 46-year-old man and a 50-year-old man from Plymouth were arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

A 37-year-old man from London was arrested on suspicion of possession of a Class A drug with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

A 40-year-old man from Northern Ireland was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to cause grievous bodily harm with intent.

The force added that a 30-year-old man of no fixed abode was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and criminal damage.

Police said: “All suspects are currently in police custody.

“This incident is in no way linked to the fatal stabbing that occurred in Plymouth earlier this week.”
