Woman’s Face Swells After Eating Too Many Pickles (Exclusive)

Nicole, who passed by in July NicoleSkirts on social media, attended Picklesburgh, an annual pickle-themed festival held in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. There he enjoyed a variety of pickle-inspired dishes, including pickle pizza, pickle cannoli, pickle egg rolls, giant jumbo pickles, and pickle lemonade.

However, things took a turn after the festival when Nicole noticed that her eye was starting to swell. At first, he thought he was developing a stye, a condition he gets frequently, so he didn’t think much of it. She went about her day, even going for a two-mile walk with her boyfriend.

However, a few hours later, the 28-year-old noticed that his entire face was swollen, especially around his eyes. That’s when it occurred to him: He might be having an allergic reaction to all the pickles.

Eventually, Nicole decided to go to the hospital, where she told PEOPLE her doctors couldn’t pinpoint the exact cause of her allergy, but it was likely a one-time reaction. While Nicole was in the hospital, she decided to share her experience. tiktok.

“I’m a total pickle lover and was looking forward to Picklesburgh because I wasn’t able to attend in the past,” he tells PEOPLE. “I was planning to make a video about the event because I love pickles, but everything changed when I arrived at the hospital.”

The video went viral after it was posted on TikTok, racking up 24 million views and more than 9,000 comments from people offering their theories on what caused his reaction. Some suggested it was excess sodium, while others suggested an ingredient used in pickles may have triggered it.

“You’ve gotten yourself into a difficult situation ,” one comment reads.

“I don’t eat pickles of any kind,” another person writes.

“If I were allergic to pickles, I would cry,” says another.

“Reading viewers’ comments made me realize that everyone on TikTok thinks they are doctors,” says Nicole. “The funniest responses actually came from a post I made on Instagram! Many people made pickle jokes, specifically using the word ‘dill’.”

Since the incident, Nicole has continued to consume pickles and all seemed well until she received another reaction around Halloween. “I now have an appointment with an allergist in January,” he says.
