West Bengal doctor found dead under mysterious circumstances in hotel room

A doctor was found dead “under mysterious circumstances” in a hotel room in West Bengal’s Jhargram on Thursday. The hotel staff notified the police when they could not get a response from the doctor’s room despite repeated calls. When the police arrived, they entered the room and found the body.

The doctor, identified as Dr Dipra Bhattacharya, was a senior resident at Jhargram Medical College and Hospital. He lived on the fifth floor of the hotel. Suspicions were raised after hotel staff failed to contact him throughout the morning and they were asked to call the police.

When the police entered the room, Dr. He found Bhattacharya lying on the bed. Police sources told India Today TV that a syringe and a suicide note were found nearby. While his body was taken to the hospital for autopsy, the police launched an investigation into the unnatural death.

Director of Jhargram Medical College and Hospital, Dr. Anurup Pakhira said: “I learned from his friends that he was suffering from mental depression. The actual cause of death will be known only after the autopsy. Police are investigating the matter.”
