A diplomatic agreement between the USA and Iran under the Trump administration seems likely – WSJ – World

NEW YORK, November 8. /TASS/. Washington and Tehran may eventually reach a diplomatic agreement during Donald Trump’s second term as US president, despite “mutual hostility”. Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported.

According to the US newspaper, some officials working in Trump’s first term do not exclude the possibility that such an agreement between the two countries is possible. Former senior Pentagon official Michael Mulroy said Trump likes to make deals, but only “if it’s his deal.”

Meanwhile, officials told The Wall Street Journal that the new president plans to greatly increase sanctions pressure on Iran and suppress oil trade. Chinese ports receiving Iranian crude oil may also be targeted. “I think you’re going to see continued sanctions, you’re going to see a lot more of them, both diplomatically and financially; they’re trying to isolate Iran,” a former White House official told the WSJ.

Earlier, Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian said that Iran plans to expand its partnership with its neighbors and other Islamic countries and that Tehran is indifferent to the outcome of the US elections. Iran considers Russia among its neighbors.
