Keaton Mitchell to Make Debut; Ravens release Yannick Ngakoue

The Ravens’ backfield will finally have all its firepower, as running back Keaton Mitchell was named to the 53-man roster ahead of Thursday night’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Mitchell averaged a whopping 8.4 yards per carry as an undrafted rookie last season and adds another key element of speed to Baltimore’s offense. His season ended with a serious knee injury on December 17, and he has been working his way back ever since.

With Mitchell joining NFL leading rusher Derrick Henry, Lamar Jackson and Justice Hill, the Ravens’ league-leading rushing attack, averaging 191.9 yards per game, becomes even more dangerous.

Meanwhile, the Bengals’ run defense ranks 18th in the league, allowing 130.4 rushing yards per game.

To make room for Mitchell on the 53-man roster, the Ravens released linebacker Yannick Ngakoue. Ngakoue has 1.5 sacks and five steals in five games so far.

Ngakoue’s release is likely to mean David Ojabo’s return to the match squad after sustaining a serious injury for the last two weeks.

In Thursday’s game, the Ravens featured nose tackle Josh Tupou and linebacker Kristian Welch from the practice squad. With defensive end Brent Urban (concussion) out, Tupou adds to Baltimore’s defensive line depth.
