As usual, I found the purple phrase a bit ambiguous. I actually don’t know anyone who says “cut the mustard” these days. I enjoyed the pickle group though!

What are Links?

Connections is one of the most popular daily puzzle games published by the New York Times (their owners). Word). The purpose of the links is to divide the 16 words of the day into four groups, with each group of four words having a common theme.

For example, “Hook,” “Nana,” “Peter,” and “Wendy” are all Peter Pan characters. Or to give another example, “Action”, “Ballpark”, “Go” and “Stick” are words that usually come right before the word “Figure”.

Your task is to find out what these themes are that connect the various words – but be careful, because often there are red herring links deliberately placed there to confuse you! To win the game, you need to find all 4 Links without making any mistakes. On your fourth mistake, the game is over and the answer is automatically revealed.

Each of the four groups in each day’s Links puzzle is assigned a different color indicating how easy or difficult it is to find the Link. These colors are: Yellow (Easiest), Green (Easy), Blue (Medium), and Purple (Hardest).
