2 people taken to hospital after accident in Yellowhead

Edmonton police are searching for the driver of a truck that fled the scene after two other vehicles collided on the Yellowhead Trail.

Around 9 p.m. Wednesday, Edmonton police were called to the area of ​​Yellowhead Trail and Winterburn Road.

Officers were told a recliner fell out of the back of an older model dark-colored pickup truck as it was traveling westbound.

The driver pulled over to the south side of the road.

The driver of the Toyota Corolla sedan stopped to avoid hitting the seats when the Chevy Avalanche rear-ended it.

According to the police statement, the dark-colored pickup truck fled the scene after the accident.

The 46-year-old woman driving the Corolla was taken to the hospital by STARS with critical, life-threatening injuries. He’s still in the hospital.

The 79-year-old man driving the Avalanche was taken to hospital as a precaution.
