New Chick-fil-A opening in Chesterfield Township – Macomb Daily

A new Chick-fil-A will soon be open for business in Chesterfield Township.

The fast food chain announced Thursday that it will begin serving customers starting Nov. 14 at the new restaurant on 23 Mile Road west of Gratiot Boulevard. The opening will be the company’s third location in Macomb County.

“I am grateful to be given the opportunity to open a Chick-fil-A right down the street from where I grew up,” said local business owner John Shamam, a metro Detroit native.

“The vision for our restaurant is to be the spark, and I look forward to giving back to the community that my family and I call home,” he added.

The new restaurant will employ approximately 150 full- and part-time team members, according to the company.

To celebrate the opening of the new restaurant, Chick-fil-A Inc. donated $25,000 to Feeding America to support local hunger relief in the area. The funds will be distributed to Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan and Forgotten Harvest, two partners of Feeding America working to address food insecurity.

Additionally, the Chesterfield Township restaurant will participate in the Chick-fil-A Shared Table program to donate excess food to local soup kitchens, shelters, food banks and nonprofits in need.

The restaurant is also honoring 100 local heroes with free Chick-fil-A entrees for a year.

Shamam has been named the local owner and operator of the Chesterfield Township restaurant in late 2023. He grew up working in his parents’ deli in Southfield and later helped expand his family’s natural foods grocer in California.

“My experience in the family business and food industry has taught me how to be resilient, lead with integrity, and create a compassionate environment for my team and guests,” she said.

Shamam has held a variety of leadership roles at Chick-fil-A restaurants throughout Michigan, including the licensed location at Detroit Metro Airport and the locally owned and operated Chick-fil-A Northville restaurant. In Chesterfield Township, he will be responsible for all day-to-day operations of the business, serving guests, fostering relationships with local organizations and businesses, and tailoring philanthropic efforts to meet community needs.

“As Chesterfield Township’s local owner-operator, I am passionate about providing empowering opportunities and mentoring the next generation of leaders,” said Shamam.

Chick-fil-A opened its first Macomb County restaurant in Shelby Township in 2021 and its second in Roseville on Oct. 3. St. St. Clair County’s first Chick-fil-A opened Nov. 7 in Fort Gratiot Township. The first Michigan location opened in Lansing in 2015.

Chick-fil-A Chesterfield County, located at 27322 23 Mile Road, will be open for dine-in, drive-thru and takeout Monday through Saturday from 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. For more information, visit chick-fil-a.com.
