Man allegedly attacked Jefferson County resident with axe, arrested for attempted murder

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. (KKTV) – On Wednesday, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call regarding a domestic disturbance.

The sheriff’s office said they arrived at a home in the 3400 block of Burnham Dr. around 8:45 a.m. after a concerned neighbor called for help.

Bradley Lindsey, 35, allegedly broke into a home after walking down the street and telling his neighbor to “call the police if they hear gunshots,” according to the sheriff’s office. Concerned about what he was told, the neighbor immediately called 9-1-1.

When deputies arrived, they found Lindsey and an injured 61-year-old man in need of medical attention. The sheriff’s office said Lindsey allegedly attacked the other male with an axe.

The sheriff’s office said the homeowner, 74-year-old David Dick, did not know Lindsey but let her in anyway when she came to the door. Dick said he plans to legally evict the 61-year-old victim, who has been living with Dick for several years. When Lindsey entered, she allegedly said she planned to “take care” of the victim.

The injured person was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. He was later treated and released. The sheriff’s office said Lindsey was taken into custody at the scene and booked into the Jefferson County Jail on suspicion of attempted first-degree murder.

The sheriff’s office is continuing to investigate this incident.
