Shreveport woman killed in hit-and-run in Coushatta

COUSHATTA, La. (KSLA) – Louisiana State Police say a Shreveport woman was killed after being struck by a car in Coushatta.

LSP said the incident occurred around 8:45 p.m., Monday, Nov. 4, on Meeks Road near Jenkins Lease Road in Red River Parish. As a result, 52-year-old Natalya Leggio of Shreveport was killed.

LSP officials said Leggio was sitting on the side of Meeks Road when he was struck by a car. He died at the scene. Police said the driver did not stop and did not call police to report what happened.

The vehicle involved in the incident was determined to be a 2013 GMC SUV. Police said William J. Williams, 43, of Coushatta, was driving the car when he struck Leggio. He was arrested on November 5 and booked into the Red River Parish Detention Center on a hit-and-run charge.
