The incident occurred around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday at a residence on North Fork Drive in North Lakeland, across North Socrum Loop Road from the Sandpiper neighborhood, according to a statement from the Lakeland Police Department.

Police received a 911 call from 50-year-old Deljie Tyson, who said he stabbed his wife, 46-year-old Sandra Green, while she was acting erratic during a fight, according to the statement.

There were more than 20 stab wounds, LPD said. Tyson, who was treated for a minor injury, was arrested by Lakeland police.

LPD said based on the evidence collected, Tyson was charged with second-degree murder with a weapon. He retained an attorney and refused to talk to detectives about the details of the incident, the statement said.
