Pensioner dies in hospital after weekend attack

A pensioner who was attacked in Antrim at the weekend died in hospital.

Police said Tony Miskimmon, 74, was the victim of a serious assault in the Station Road area of ​​the town on Saturday.

A 21-year-old man appeared in Coleraine Magistrates’ Court on Monday charged with causing grievous bodily harm in connection with the incident.

Detective Inspector Sean Armstrong said they were investigating all the circumstances surrounding Mr Miskimmon’s death.

“I would like to offer my deepest condolences to Tony’s family and friends at this very sad time,” he said.

“Our investigations are continuing to establish the full circumstances surrounding Tony’s death and I am appealing to anyone who was in the Station Road area, Antrim, between 7pm and 8pm on Saturday 2 November and who may have witnessed this incident or has any other information.
