M6 fatal lorry crash: Lancashire motorway partially reopened

The highway has partially reopened following a fatal accident in which a truck overturned, hit the median and landed on the opposite carriageway, hitting the back of a car.

The M6 ​​was closed in both directions between Junction 33 near Lancaster and Junction 32 near Preston after the crash at around 11:20 GMT on Wednesday.

National Highways said two lanes of the northbound carriageway reopened at around 04:00 GMT, but the outer lane would remain closed until repairs were completed.

Southbound motorists are warned about detours and delays.

No information has yet been given about the person who died in the accident.

Police said on Wednesday that several people were also seriously injured.
