Crash affecting traffic on Desert Inn Road in west Las Vegas Wednesday night

Metro police say an elderly man was walking outside a marked crosswalk when he was struck by a passing vehicle.

The man was taken to UMC Trauma and died from his injuries, police said.

Police said the driver showed no signs of impairment.

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — A portion of Desert Inn Road in the western Las Vegas valley was closed Wednesday night.

According to an alert from the Southern Nevada Regional Transportation Commission, the eastbound lanes of the Desert Inn are closed from Chieftain Street (east of Grand Canyon Drive) to Fort Apache Road.

Channel 13 confirmed the channel was closed while police investigated a crash. As of this report, police had not released detailed information about the collision.

RTC advised motorists to use alternative routes in the area. There was no estimate as to when the road would be opened.
