1 person died after 2 police officers were shot and injured at a mental health center

UPDATE: 6 November at 19:00 (LEX 18)

The man who shot two Bowling Green police officers during a mental health crisis Wednesday morning was shot and killed during the incident, according to Kentucky State Police.

Two Bowling Green Police officers responded to a call about a person experiencing a mental health crisis, KSP reported. This individual became combative, attempted to disarm an officer, and took control of a gun, shooting the two managers.

One of the officers discharged his firearm and attacked the individual, who suffered life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

While both police officers were discharged from the hospital, the investigation into the incident continues.

Two Kentucky police officers were shot and wounded at a mental health facility in Bowling Green early Wednesday.

The officers were being treated at a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, according to Bowling Green police spokesman Ronnie Ward.

The attack took place at the LifeSkills Adult Crisis Stabilization Unit, according to WKBO-TV. The website says the center treats patients with serious mental illnesses.

No other information about the shooting was immediately available. Kentucky State Police are continuing the investigation. State police did not immediately respond to a message seeking comment.

Ward told WKBO the officers will recover.
