5 people died in plane crash at Mesa Falcon Field Airport

Five people were killed Tuesday afternoon when a plane taking off from Mesa’s Falcon Field Airport crashed into a car a short time later.

Flames and smoke rose due to an accident near the airport Greenfield and McKellips Roads Around 4:40 pm on November 5th. It was reported that the aircraft in question was a six-seater HondaJet HA-420.

“Our community suffered a tragic loss this afternoon. We had a plane take off from Falon Field Airport in Mesa and hit a single vehicle on Greenfield Road during takeoff,” said Marrisa Ramirez-Ramos, Mesa Fire and Health Department spokesperson. .

There was a pilot, co-pilot and three passengers on board the plane at the time of the accident. Four of them did not survive. These were defined as follows:

  • Drew Kimball, 44
  • Grahm Kimball, 12 (Authorities listed this victim’s name as ‘Graham,’ but family members say the victim’s name is ‘Graham.’)
  • Spencer Lindahl, 43
  • Rustin Randall, 48

According to the Mountain View High School Class of 1994 group on social media, Randall graduated from that school. Meanwhile, the HOPE Mental Health Foundation paid tribute to both Drew and Grahm. The tribute stated that Grahm was Drew’s son.

“We are grateful to hear him speak at our gala, where 200 guests heard his message about the importance of coming together with our children and loved ones. We will honor his message and legacy at Hope,” part of the statement read. “Our prayers are with the Kimball family and everyone affected by the tragedy.”

The fifth person on the plane survived and continues to receive treatment in hospital. The driver of the car he hit also died, but authorities are waiting for that person’s family to be notified.

The NTSB is investigating the cause of the crash.

Greenfield Road is closed in both directions from McKellips to McDowell, police said.
