The plane went over the airport fence during takeoff and crashed into a car: 5 people died

MESA, Arizona. (KPHO/Gray News) – An investigation is ongoing into what caused a plane crash that killed several people near a Mesa-area airport Tuesday afternoon, Arizona officials said.

According to the National Transportation Safety Board, a Honda HA-420 jet attempted to abort takeoff before striking fences around the airport and colliding with a vehicle.

The accident occurred around 16.45. Greenfield and McKellips roadsJust southwest of Falcon Field Airport.

In the aerial video taken from the scene, thick smoke was seen rising where the plane and the vehicle collided.

While there were 5 people on the plane, 4 of them died at the scene. These were defined as follows:

  • Spencer Lindahl, 43 years old
  • Rustin Randall, 48 years old
  • Drew Kimball, 44 years old
  • Graham Kimball, 12 years old

Sources confirmed that Randall was the group’s pilot who flew to Provo, Utah.

One person on board survived and was taken to the hospital with burn injuries, Mesa police said.

The driver of the vehicle also lost his life in the terrible accident, but his identity has not yet been determined due to his relatives being informed.
