Pine Prairie Police Chief arrested

EVANGELINE COUNTY, La. (HEART) – The Pine Prairie Police Chief has been arrested, according to the Evangeline County Sheriff’s Office.

EPSO said they received a complaint about a careless driver on Nov. 4 on Miller’s Lake Road. A deputy contacted a vehicle parked in the roadway near the intersection of West Main Street and Court Street in Ville Platte. The driver was identified as Landry Charles Deshotel.

The deputy performed a field sobriety test, which Deshotel failed. He was also transported to EPSO to provide a breath sample which showed he was over the legal limit on the Intoxilyzer.

Deshotel was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and obstructing public passage.

Deshotel ran for re-election on November 5 but failed to qualify for a runoff between Shane Guillory and Gilbert Bordelon. Deshotel placed fourth in the cane selection, just behind Joshua Uhlman, who placed third. Joey Fontenot finished fifth in the election.
