The 19-year-old Muncy woman was being treated at UPMC Williamsport for injuries she suffered when she broke down her southbound motorcycle on Sulfur Springs Road, about 4 miles south of South Williamsport, at 8:55 a.m. Wednesday, according to state police. .

The woman, who was wearing a helmet, was thrown off her bike and thrown down a 35-meter embankment.

Emergency personnel arrived at the scene and quickly descended the embankment and began assessing and treating his injuries.

Firefighters used a backstop and a Z rope tie-down system to lower the Stokes basket over the embankment from the road to first responders below. Emergency workers loaded the injured cyclist into the basket, which was then lifted back onto the road. The woman was taken to hospital by ambulance.

Due to the accident, the narrow winding road was closed for an hour by the State Ministry of Transport.
