Cops seized property worth Rs 2.31 lakh

Visakhapatnam: Anakapalli district police arrested several suspects and seized property worth Rs 2.31 lakh in a series of operations at Payakaraopeta and Parawada police stations.

Two people were caught near the RTC complex and water tank in Payakaraopeta. 8 grams of gold, 2,120 kg of silver, 2 kg of rice, 15 pairs of clothes, a home theater system, 2 televisions and iron pellets weighing 1,240 kg were seized.

One of the prime suspects, a resident of Maharani Street, Marripalem, Visakhapatnam, has a history of 48 theft cases in Kancharapalem, Vizianagaram, Pendurthi, Kadiam and Srikakulam districts. He was convicted in 20 of these cases. The second accused, Payakaraopeta Mandal of Gelam Street, has four cases registered against him.

In a separate operation, Parawada police arrested a suspect from Gonnuanipalem Village and seized a gold chain weighing 2 tolas, a gold finger ring, silver bangles weighing 10 tolas and a mobile phone. The defendant was also wanted in two motorcycle theft cases.

SP Tuhin Sinha praised the investigation teams, including inspector Appanna of Payakaraopeta, CCS inspector Appalanayudu, Paravada inspector Mallikarjuna Rao, along with Clues team and IT core staff.
