The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the cause of the crash.

In the hours following the accident, emergency vehicles, including local police and fire departments, blocked the street in front of the airport.

“We are working on a plane crash at Greenfield and McKellips Road in Mesa,” Mesa police said on X. to post at 17:05 local time. “The entire area will be closed for several hours. Please seek an alternative route.”

Although flames and smoke were visible, authorities did not provide any details about the accident or injuries.
