Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Kamala Harris will face off in Hawaii for the state’s four Electoral College votes. The liberal state voted for the Democratic candidate in the last two elections. Trump’s speech to voters focused on the economy, immigration and crime. Since Harris took over as the Democratic standard-bearer following the departure of President Joe Biden, she has argued for ushering in a new era and campaigned for improving the care economy, protecting abortion rights and preserving democracy. In 2020, Biden won Hawaii with 64% of the vote to Trump’s 34%. In 2016, Hillary Clinton won Hawaii with 62% of the votes, while Trump received 30%. With the exception of two election cycles in 1972 and 1984, Hawaii has historically voted Democratic for president.
