Heavener said heavy snowfall, driven by wind, is expected along the Interstate 70 corridor east of metro Denver and the Eastern Plains.

“It’s not a blizzard, but there are near-whiteout conditions for periods of time,” he said.

The weather service’s Pueblo office released a winter storm warning For areas and parts of central, east-central and southeastern Colorado that could receive up to 18 inches of snow, including the Sangre de Cristo and Wet Mountains. Forecasters said more than 5 inches could fall on parts of the Central and Southwest Mountains.
