St. Is St. Lucie County’s population explosion affecting voting?

ST. LUCIE COUNTY, Fla. —St. Lucie County, one explosion in population sizeThis means there are more voters this election cycle than before.

WPTV’s Kayla McDermott is there to see what’s different for people voting in 2024 compared to four years ago.

St. According to the St. Lucie County Supervisor of Elections, there are approximately 20,000 more registered voters here for this election compared to our last presidential race.

But although there are more voters, there are fewer polling places due to a growing population, with at least 50,000 people moving to the area since 2020, according to the World Population Review.

Four years ago, the county’s Supervisor of Elections established 64 precincts where people could vote.

A total of 61 precincts are listed on the district’s website this year.

WPTV asked the Supervisor of Elections why there were fewer precincts this year – I was told the auditor was unavailable.

But Kinaya Tommy Scott, who volunteered as a poll worker before the election, said he did not see any changes other than the number of precincts.

“It looks pretty much the same,” he said.

“Even though there are almost 20,000 more voters this year?” asked McDermott.

“Yes, I’m glad. It’s no problem. Easy, problem-free,” he said.

The Chief Election Officer also told me that at least 70% of registered voters here have already voted and officials told me they have not encountered any problems so far.
