Although Beyoncé did not perform at the rally, her music stood out. Most notably, “Freedom,” a powerful track from her 2016 album “Lemonade,” was adopted as Vice President Harris’ campaign anthem.

Earlier this year, Beyoncé granted Harris permission to use the song, linking the song’s messages of empowerment and liberation to the campaign’s advocacy for reproductive rights and individual freedoms. “It’s time to sing a new song, a song that started 248 years ago,” he said. “The old notes of collapse, discord, despair no longer resonate. “Our loved ones from the generation before us are whispering a prophecy, a quest, a call, an anthem.”

“This is our moment,” Beyoncé added. “It’s time for America to sing a new song. Our voices sing a chorus of unity. They sing of dignity and opportunity. Are you ready to add your voice to the new American song? Because I am. So let’s do this.”
