Gaithersburg woman charged with first-degree murder in mother’s death

GAITHERSBURG, MD. — A Gaithersburg woman has been charged with first-degree murder for allegedly killing her mother and leaving her body outside her home, according to the Montgomery County Police Department.

Tiffany Zhang, 29, was arrested after a call to the police at around 09:53 on Monday, November 4. In his call, Zhang reportedly informed the Emergency Communications Center that he had killed his 63-year-old mother. Guichun Hu left her body the previous day in a nearby grass field outside their home in the 19400 block of Olive Tree Road.

When 6th District police officers arrived at the scene, they found Zhang waiting outside. Police found Hu’s body in the grassy area as described. It was determined that Hu died at the scene.

Detectives from the Major Crimes Branch Homicide Bureau came to the scene and investigated. The victim’s body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, where an autopsy is scheduled for November 5 to determine the official cause and manner of death.

Zhang was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Central Processing Unit, where he was formally charged with first-degree murder. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to determine the circumstances surrounding the alleged murder.
