Penn State police investigating incident with fan Jason Kelce after homophobic slur

Penn State police are investigating an incident in which Jason Kelce smashed a fan’s phone before the game. Saturday’s game against the Nittany Lions It’s a challenge against Ohio State, a spokesman told The Associated Press.

As Kelce was heading towards the stadium, a fan asked him what kind of football player his brother Travis was. “Damn you for dating Taylor Swift.”

Kelce then turned around, took the fan’s phone and threw it into the street.

Afterwards, Kelce came to the fans and asked “Who is it now?” several times.

“The officer observed a visitor causing damage to personal property,” a recording recorded Saturday in the police department’s incident log reads.

Jacqueline Sheader, PSU’s public information officer, confirmed to The Associated Press on Tuesday that the incident involved Kelce and said the process was ongoing. Potential crimes include criminal mischief and disorderly conduct, the report said.

Despite Kelce’s actions, many people supported him on social media. Instead, they found something wrong with what the Penn State fan said rather than the phone being smashed.
