The 2024 NFL trade deadline marks a critical decision day across the league.

With the blackout set to end at 4pm ET on Tuesday, teams have one last chance to make a significant change during the season; whether that means making a big splash for a veteran player, increasing their draft capital, or making a move to improve their salary cap space. appearance. Many franchises have already benefited from engineering deals with big names, and more could be coming in the coming hours.

USA TODAY Sports will provide live updates on the latest news, rumors and deals on Tuesday, so check back throughout the day for more updates.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have made their long-awaited move on another wide receiver.

According to multiple reports, the Steelers reached an agreement on Tuesday to acquire Mike Williams from the New York Jets in exchange for a 2025 fifth-round draft pick.

Williams, 30, struggled to connect with Aaron Rodgers after signing with the Jets this offseason, and the veteran quarterback called out the pass catcher for taking the wrong route on a play that would have capped the Buffalo Bills’ defeat with an interception. He had just 12 catches for 166 yards this season, his first return from an ACL tear last September.

Still, the 6-4, 218-pounder could be a valuable addition to a downfield passing attack currently led by Russell Wilson. George Pickens leads the Steelers with 35 catches for 548 yards, but no other outside has more than 14 receptions on the season.

The Washington Commanders were among the few teams at the top of the standings who had yet to make a significant move at the trade deadline.

That changed Tuesday when the team made a deal to acquire New Orleans Saints cornerback Marshon Lattimore. According to multiple reports, the Kansas City Chiefs were also in this photo.

The four-time Pro Bowl selection shores up one of Washington’s biggest positional weaknesses. Opposing passers have a 103.9 rating against the Commanders’ defense so far this season, ranking 28th in the NFL.

28-year-old Lattimore remained away from the field due to a hamstring injury.

At a time when other big-name receivers are being traded, DK Metcalf is staying put.

The Seattle Seahawks will not trade the two-time Pro Bowl pick, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Tuesday.

Metcalf has 35 catches for 568 yards and three touchdowns so far this season for the 4-5 Seahawks, who are just one game out of first place in the NFC West.

With three trades on the books on Tuesday, it’s time to take a look at which players could still be candidates for transfer.

  • Azeez Ojulari, OLB, New York Giants: Coming off a strong performance with five sacks in his last four games. But if Za’Darius Smith’s trade to the Detroit Lions shapes the market for pass rushers, will the potential return be enough to sway GM Joe Schoen into a deal?
  • Dalvin Tomlinson, DT, Cleveland Browns: He and linebacker Shelby Harris would certainly make sense to be the next veterans sent down from a team that has clearly signaled its interest in looking long-term.
  • Arden Key, OLB, Tennessee Titans: Like the Browns, the Titans have made it clear they will move established players who have attracted interest elsewhere. Lockout and defensive tackle Sebastian Joseph-Day could be on the radar of teams looking to strengthen their front.

After all, Jerry Jones had a move.

Dallas Cowboys agree to buyout wide receiver Jonathan Mingo The Carolina Panthers sent a fourth-round pick and also received a seventh-round pick back, a person with knowledge of the deal told USA TODAY Sports’ Tyler Dragon. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the trade is not yet official.

NFL Network was first to report the move.

Before the deal, Jones said in an interview with 105.3 The Fan on Tuesday that the team brought in a receiver he really liked during the draft process.

Mingo, 23, was a 2023 second-round pick out of Mississippi. He struggled to make his mark on the Panthers’ broader offensive tackles, catching just 43 of 85 targets in his rookie season. He has just 12 catches for 121 yards in nine games this year.

The Cowboys’ acquisition comes at a time when the 3-5 team is plagued by major injuries on offense. Quarterback Dak Prescott likely to be on injured reserve Jones said Tuesday that he missed at least four games with a hamstring injury. Wide receiver CeeDee Lamb is also dealing with a shoulder injury.

How did the Cowboys fare in our trade grades?? Look away, Dallas fans.

The Cincinnati Bengals have added depth to the backfield as they prepare for a potential late-season run.

Bengals take running back Khalil Herbert The Bears announced that he will be leaving the Chicago Bears in exchange for a 2025 seventh-round draft pick.

The Bengals had faced an uncertain outlook for running back Chase Brown after Zack Moss was sidelined indefinitely with a neck injury that kept him out of Sunday’s win over the Las Vegas Raiders. Moss 74 has thrown for 242 yards and two touchdowns so far this season.

Herbert, 26, was a healthy scratch for the Bears’ last two games. He has completed just eight carries for 16 yards this season, as starter D’Andre Swift and backup Roschon Johnson have done the bulk of the work. But last season, he rushed for 611 yards, averaging 4.6 yards per carry.

The Detroit Lions finally have a fill-in pass rusher.

The team acquired Za’Darius Smith from the Cleveland Browns on Tuesday, according to multiple reports. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that Smith and a 2026 seventh-round pick will be given to the Lions, while the Lions will receive a 2025 fifth-round pick and a 2026 sixth-round pick.

Lions coach Dan Campbell had acknowledged for weeks that the team was looking at the market at defensive end to replace Pro Bowl selection Aidan Hutchinson, who suffered a fractured tibia and tibia against the Dallas Cowboys.

“I don’t think it’s entirely up to us,” Campbell said Monday. “I can tell you we’re trying, (Lions general manager) Brad (Holmes is working) and we’ve looked at everything, we really have. We’ve made a lot of phone calls and he continues to do that, so we’ll do the best we can. Look, he’s still here “We have some time, we have until tomorrow evening, let’s see what happens.”

Smith has five sacks in nine games so far this season.

While the talent pool has shrunk significantly in recent weeks, there are still a few intriguing players left at the top of our rankings:

  • 1. Azeez Ojulari, OLB, New York Giants
  • 2.Za’Darius Smith, DE, Cleveland Browns
  • 3. Jonathan Jones, CB, New England Patriots
  • 4. Arden Key, OLB, Tennessee Titans
  • 5. Chase Young, DE, New Orleans Saints

2024 NFL trade deadline Tuesday at 4pm ET.

The cut occurred midseason because NFL owners voted in March to move it back a week from its traditional spot on the league schedule. After Tuesday, teams will not be able to make formal trades until the new league year begins in March, but they will be able to informally reach agreements with each other after the season.
