Camilla’s health over the years: Broken toe, leg in a cast and hysterectomy

The Queen has focused on the King’s health following his cancer diagnosis this year and has been credited with cheering up the monarch with her support.

Camilla has been called the monarchy’s “savior” and has been praised for keeping the “show on track” in Charles’ absence when he was away from public engagements until April this year.

She broke her leg, suffered back pain, had a hysterectomy and caught Covid twice.

When the King ascended to the throne in 2022, Camilla was secretly nursing a broken toe while carrying out her first duties as the new Queen Consort.

The former Miss Parker Bowles took on the role of Queen Consort at the age of 75; this was an age when many people were already on the verge of retirement.

After one well-wisher in Cardiff said she was completely exhausted, Camilla replied: “Yes we are but we have to keep going, it would be worse to stop.”

In February 2022, the Queen Consort contracted Covid for the second time after experiencing cold-like symptoms.

He canceled engagements and took time to rest.

Almost exactly a year ago, she too tested positive for coronavirus and isolated herself at home.

The Queen used to smoke a lot; It was a habit Charles hated, but he gave up years ago.

In 2019, he withdrew from the gala dinner on medical advice after contracting a chest infection.

Camilla spent several days in hospital in 2010 and had to rest for six weeks after undergoing a hysterectomy, a major surgery to remove her uterus, when she was 59.

Aides confirmed the operation was not cancer-related.

He broke his left leg while walking on a hill in Scotland in 2010, but continued his engagements with his leg in a cast.

The then-Duchess of Cornwall even used a mobility scooter to present Afghanistan campaign medals to soldiers of A Company’s 4th Battalion Rifles at Bulford Camp near Salisbury, Wiltshire.

When his cast was finally removed, he joked: “I feel like a child without support.”

She also humorously expressed her longing for high heels, saying: “I’ll be happy to go back to Jimmy Choos.”

A pinched nerve, which caused her some pain, forced her to cancel a series of appointments in Poland during a tour of Eastern Europe with Charles in 2010.

A royal pillow (mostly tartan) is sometimes placed next to Camilla and Charles to ease their back during royal engagements.

She also enjoys walking in the countryside with Charles, and they both share a passion for gardening and painting.

It was feared that his nose was broken when he fell from the saddle while riding a horse in 1994.

In 2004, the family of the then Prince of Wales had to deal with false reports from America that former smoker Camilla was suffering from lung cancer.

Aides quickly denied it.

On the eve of her wedding to Charles in 2005, she was reportedly so stressed out by the much-anticipated ceremony that she was confined to bed, exhausted.

In 2006, Camilla suffered under the scorching heat of the Rajasthan sun during her official visit to India with Charles.

Under the supervision of the royal doctor, he twice had to retreat to the shade due to 42C temperatures and drink water in a small mud hut.

He first backed out of attending a Christmas pudding factory in December and then failed to hold an event in Aberdeen in January.

He also missed the Diplomatic Corps reception at Buckingham Palace in 2015 due to neck and shoulder pain.

The next day, his 77th birthday, he was bandage-free when he attended the State Opening of Parliament with the King.
