The country’s first museum about successful women will open in Delhi next year: LG

The iconic Gole Market in Central Delhi will be transformed into the country’s first museum dedicated to accomplished women and will be opened to the public next year, Delhi Lieutenant Governor (LG) Vinai Kumar Saxena said on Tuesday.

“This will be the first museum of its kind to honor the contributions of prominent Indian women in various fields. We hope that the redeveloped and restored Gole Market will be opened to the people of Delhi next year,” he said.

LG inspected the ongoing restoration of the iconic Gole Market and also unveiled an Elephant Family Statue at the RML Hospital roundabout in central Delhi.

He praised NDMC’s installation of fountains in public places as they not only reduce dust particles and air pollution but also reduce the environmental temperature.

Speaking about the transformation of Gole Market into a museum, LG said: “The strengthening of the old, dilapidated structure of the building is in full swing, the arches and external architecture have started to take shape. Gole Market, which has been neglected for more than a decade, is a symbol of India’s rich heritage and Delhi It stands as a testament to the evolution of ‘s since the colonial period.”

After unveiling the RML roundabout sculpture, Saxena said: “Hundreds of sculptures and artworks have been installed across the city over the last two and a half years to enhance the aesthetics of the city. “The Elephant Family Statue placed at the RML hospital junction has added a new one to the efforts to beautify the city.”

NDMC has installed a majestic white stone Elephant Family that will take center stage, right at the heart of the revamped RML roundabout, surrounded by water channels with fountains on all sides.

Bansuri Swaraj, MP from BJP’s New Delhi constituency, NDMC Chairman Ashwani Kumar and other senior officials of the civic body were present at the event to inaugurate the statue.

Saxena lauded NDMC’s initiative to enrich the aesthetic landscape of the city through meticulous planning.

He said that NDMC has installed 35 statues at around 20 places at important places, which include exquisite creations such as Buddha, marble lions, polo horses, horse families, chariots and many more, and are frequented by a large number of people, including tourists, every day.

Referring to the RML intersection beautification, LG said that thanks to the work, passers-by will not only have a visually pleasing experience but also enjoy a clean and green environment.
