How to check voting wait times in Harris County

Today is Election Day. Polls in Texas are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. today

Sometimes the most convenient polling place may not be the fastest. Note that registered voters in Harris County can vote at any polling place in Harris County.

Everyone in line at the polls’ closing time will be allowed to vote.

Preparing for your ballot box visit can speed up the process. We expect you to have the option to vote for an average of 62 contests. Ballots range from 58 to 77 contests, depending on the voter’s registered address.

Harris County Polling Places

Do I need ID to vote in Texas?

To vote in person during early voting or on election day, Texas voters will be required to present an acceptable form of photo identification. Here is a list of acceptable forms of photo ID:

  • Texas Driver’s License issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS)
  • Texas Election Identification Certificate issued by DPS
  • Texas Personal Identification Card issued by DPS
  • Texas Pistol License issued by DPS
  • United States Military Identification Card with the person’s photograph
  • Certificate of United States Citizenship with the person’s photograph
  • United States Passport (book or card)

Here is a list of supporting forms of identification that may be presented if the voter does not have acceptable photo identification and cannot reasonably obtain one:

  • A copy or original of an official document showing the voter’s name and address, including the voter’s voter registration certificate.
  • Copy or original of current electricity bill
  • Copy or original of bank statement
  • Copy or original of official check
  • Copy or original of paycheck
  • A copy or original of (a) a certified domestic (from a U.S. state or territory) birth certificate, or (b) a court-admissible birth certifying document that identifies the voter (which may include a foreign birth certificate).
