Harris campaign says she couldn’t ask Muslim interviewer about Gaza, talked about bacon instead: ‘I’m surprised’

Kamala Harris’ interview A Muslim social media influencer never saw the light of day after the vice president refused to answer questions about Gaza and oddly gushed about bacon, which is religiously forbidden for Muslims.

Kareem Rahma, host of the popular “Subway Takes” show, which has nearly a million followers on Instagram and TikTok, decided to cancel the summer interview with Harris. he told the New York Times.

Before the interview, Rahma hoped to press Harris on policy, particularly the Biden administration’s support for Israel. The ongoing war in GazaHe disagrees, according to the Times. But despite three meetings with his team and the Democratic National Committee, he was “rejected.”

Instead, the campaign agreed that Harris would offer a “fiery take” on people who take off their shoes on planes. The premise of the show revolves around guests, some notable, who defend an unpopular idea or point of view.

“(Rahma) eventually agreed to the terms, thinking that she could choose not to publish the video if it would make her uncomfortable,” the New York Times reported.

But when Rahma sat down for an interview with Harris, she shared a different view and said, “bacon is a spice.” Rahma and other devout Muslims do not eat pork due to their beliefs.

He reportedly backtracked, saying “I don’t know” in the unpublished interview. The Times described him as “surprised”.

“Think about it, this is pure deliciousness,” he said, according to footage reviewed by the Times.

Rahma then reportedly paused the interview to say she doesn’t eat pork and then tried to direct Harris to the agreed-upon topic of removing her shoes during the flight. But Harris made another food purchase at the recommendation of an employee who praised anchovies on pizza, the Times said.

“Eh,” Rahma says to Harris in the recording. “I’m not 100% sure about either one.”

Rahma chose not to air the interview for fear it would offend the Muslim community.

“He was worried about possible criticism from other Muslims and was taken aback by the bacon talk,” the Times reported.

“It was very complicated because I’m a Muslim and there’s something going on in the world that 100 percent of Muslims care about,” Rahma said. “Then they made it worse by mentioning anchovies. Boring!”

Two senior Harris campaign officials told the Times that Rahma was told about the bacon issue in advance, but that Rahma and her manager were against it. Still, the campaign reportedly apologized for the bacon reference and offered to do a reshoot, but Rahma decided not to move forward, according to the Times.
