CNN anchor Wolf Raid spoke to the national reporter Kristen Holmes Monday about Donald Trump’s closing message ahead of Tuesday’s Election Day — a brutally pared-down segment of Trump’s recent rhetoric.

“Kristen Holmes right now. She’s in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where Trump is scheduled to hold his final campaign rally tonight. Kristen, what’s Trump’s strategy for this final day on the campaign trail?” Blitzer wanted to start the segment.

“Well, Wolf is hitting all the battleground states and hitting them hard when they start out of North Carolina. Now, this is remarkable. He spent most of the weekend in North Carolina; “It was a place his team didn’t actually think it would be,” Holmes began, adding:

This was the place that handed him a narrow victory in 2020. But they clearly saw something in the surveys there that made them decide to return for the entire weekend. Then there are two rallies in Pennsylvania today. As Jeff said, both sides believe Pennsylvania is the key to the White House this time. Donald Trump’s team says they’re cautiously optimistic, but they’re still not taking any chances. So there were two rallies there and then it ended up in Grand Rapids, Michigan, specifically both Pennsylvania and Michigan, stating that he won in 2016 and then lost in 2020.

Now, one of the most interesting things about where he ends up tonight is that it’s the exact same city and arena where he finished his 2016 campaign. Donald Trump is known for being superstitious. And that’s certainly one of the reasons why they’re trying to repeat 2016’s results. That’s one of the reasons they’re here tonight, Wolf.

“And I know, Kristen, you’re learning there are some concerns about Trump’s closing message. Tell our audience what you learned,” Wolf continued.

“Yes, I spoke to a number of aides, allies, advisors, and they all warned me. Donald Trump’s campaign or warned the former president himself to stay on message in these final days. And this especially came after his rally in Pennsylvania yesterday morning; seemed to essentially go off the rails with some of the messages they were trying to focus on him. Before playing the clips, Holmes said:

I saw that rocket fall and I said, it’s going to fall, man. Those two big arms. You saw the arms. They hold that thing like you hold your beautiful baby. Look, I’ve gotten a lot better. Years ago I would have said something else. But I learned that I would be a little more risky.

The press would say: “No, this isn’t really what you know, this was genius.” This is knitting.

We cannot allow these animals to come from other countries. This isn’t a slap on the wrist. When you kill someone, you kill someone. Now, if you fight for a fair and free election, then they throw the book at you.

“And Wolf, I’m sorry. That’s actually his voice today. The words that set off alarm bells in Trump’s orbit over the weekend were when he talked nonstop about sowing doubt in the 2024 election. He said he should stay in the White House,” Holmes said:

He also said he wouldn’t care if someone did it. shot To reach him, through journalists. Now, what we hear today are his messages. To some, it may actually seem like Donald Trump sticking to his own message. His team said they heard from their allies and realized that was what was at stake.

And so they kept him focused over the last few rallies. Of course, we’ll see what happens when it lands in Grand Rapids. They do not want to lose votes because of Donald Trump’s rhetoric. And they told him he should text her and hopefully show up on time. We don’t think that’s going to happen tonight to keep the crowds energized and focused.
