Baby Luv animal shelter will surrender remaining dogs to Arizona Humane Society

phoenixPuppy Luv Animal Rescue, the embattled dog shelter north of Phoenix, will surrender all of its remaining dogs to the Arizona Humane Society, a source confirmed to FOX10.

FOX 10’s Justin Lum reported, “Due to reported inadequate conditions at the facility, 11 people have surrendered so far since site visits began last month.” wrote to x. “Puppy Luv also has a lease expiring by 11/30.”

Puppy Luv’s lease at the Phoenix facility will expire due to a notice of default filed by the landlord. The exact reason the dogs were surrendered was not stated, but FOX 10 previously reported on the unsanitary conditions the dogs were experiencing in the rescue’s owners’ care.

The company’s owners, Bradley Ware and his wife, Gwen, were investigated by Phoenix Police and AHS after the organization received numerous complaints. The animal cruelty investigation remains open. FOX 10 reached out to Bradley Ware for comment, but he did not respond.

AHS conducted several site visits to the shelter and found Puppy Luv was not in compliance by October 15th. The problems found were related to the water condition and the size of the kennels. The Phoenix Police Department did not mention Puppy Luv.

Puppy Luv is located off Interstate 17 and Deer Valley Road. It is described as a “no-kill, foster care-based rescue.”

AHS Director of Field Operations Tracey Miller has previously stated that most of the shelter’s dogs are sourced from Native American communities.

Former employees of Puppy Luv said that at times the shelter housed nearly 100 dogs and that some dogs were kept in crates filled with animal feces.
