Police said two people were killed in a fire that broke out in the garage of a house in Queens, and a murder investigation has been launched.

JAMAICA, Queens (WABC) — The deaths of a man and a woman found after a fire broke out in a detached garage in Queens are being treated as homicides, police said.

Crews responded to the scene on 91st Street around 7:30 a.m. Saturday for a report of a fire in the detached garage of a home in Jamaica, Queens.

When authorities arrived at the scene, they found a man and a woman, both unresponsive. First responders determined that the injured were dead.

More than 60 firefighters responded to the scene, according to the FDNY.

Police said the two victims were victims of an arson fire.

The investigation continues.
