Man driving 127 mph without a license on I-91 in Rocky Hill

ROCKY HILL, CT (WFSB) – A man was caught driving recklessly at 127 mph on Interstate 91 in Rocky Hill on Saturday, state police said.

Police identified the driver as Rashad Miller, 31, of Hartford.

They said they enforced speed enforcement around 9:20 a.m. on I-91 south near exit 23.

An officer noticed the driver of a black Nissan Rogue going faster than the flow of traffic. Troopers were able to confirm the driver reached speeds of 197 mph, state police said.

The emergency lights and siren on the trooper’s cruiser were activated to stop traffic.

But state police said the driver accelerated, made unsafe lane changes and used the highway and shoulders to go around vehicles.

The driver got off the highway at exit 23 and jumped onto West Street in Rocky Hill. Troopers said he failed to stop at a red light there.

State police later located the Rogue and were able to identify the driver as Miller.

The suspect, who was taken into custody, was arrested for crimes such as illegally using a suspended motor vehicle, reckless driving, not obeying the police signal, not obeying the right of way rules, not driving in the appropriate lane, giving improper signals, and driving. unlicensed motor vehicle, interfering with an officer and first-degree reckless endangerment.

Miller was given a court date in New England on Monday. His bond was $10,000.
